The past 3 days I was off and spent a lot of time on various things. Somehow this blog still attracts quite a few visitors I noticed on the stats. Which is a bit of a surprise as it's not promoted or such. Nor have I been putting interesting updates on the car itself. Only a few updates on random things I spotted, mostly adverts, articles or photo's that I found cool or useful to add. Reason being that not much happened on the car is because of Brexit, Covid and a house I purchased. The first two made it difficult to purchase some specific items from the UK. Mostly the fuel injection rail-system refurbishment kit. I will spare you the details and the excuses. And the last one forced me to actively stop spending money on my car hobby. Nevertheless I have bought another 2 cars, sigh. Now I have moved into the new house and have already done a lot of work and finished important projects there is still more work to do that requires time and funding. Also the other cars required worked as well but I had decided to leave the XJS for last. I can't do everything. In any case, I have spend a little time on cleaning up the garage. This also meant I had to dust of the XJS car cover and I was very curious if I could start it up and move it. I just looked it up and the last active piece I have done was in September 2020, working on the throttle bushings. So the car had not run for at least 1,5 year. I hooked up a charged battery and to my surprise the engine ran in one go! Like it was yesterday. The engine started smoking a little though but this was caused by the manifolds. I was very pleased with this and also to feel the smooth engine again. I really want to make some long road trips with this car. For now I could drive it only outside and park it back in again. But this was enough to motivate me to get things going. I know already not much will happen in the coming few months but I will free up some time at least to look into the next important task that are in my mind to sort out:
1) Distributor movement overhaul/service - I recall this piece done by the Swedish guy and it's a neglected job. I need to look up the youtube video again. I now just checked and found it:

2) Fuel railsystem overhaul/service - Another important piece I want to sort out. Guess I need to look this up again as well and simply order the service kit. So I can attack it as soon as I have time. Definately not a job want to rush. I believe it was a lengthy and time consuming job.
Found the link: https://youtu.be/gXovG0zUrTg And I knew the YT had the UK webshop listed which sells the kit: https://mrinjectoruk.co.uk/default.aspx and it's this kit specifically:
