U zoekt een Jaguar XJS? Dit staat er te koop
I got informed about this Dutch article. A nice quick and dirty overview about the XJS and some which are for sale on the current Dutch market, either very cheap or expensive. Some of these do happen to have been mentioned on my blog already.

Ed Abbott - Jaguar XJS
I'm member of the closed Jaguar XJ-S Pre HE group on FB. Despite I don't own a pre HE I was allowed to join somehow.
So I'm not sure if non-members can view this link:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/606923029511151/permalink/715174518686001/
In any case this triggered my attention as this person, Ed Abbott, got introduced and I sensed he was somehow special. And following the thread he was indeed. Yes, I'm a novice about Jaguar but apparently this is a very known name.
If you were unaware just like me, just visit his website and check out the XJS section, it provides a very nice insight about his background:

The 5 soon-to-be classics to invest in this year
The XJS is an excellent period cruiser and the V12 will always be the one to have, whether it’s a 5.3 or the rare 6-litre. For years these cars have gone under the radar with many rotting away completely. They were built in large numbers but the opportunity to find low mileage, rust-free examples is increasingly difficult as prices for such cars are steadily creeping up. Coupe or Convertible, you’re on to a winner.

Limited Edition XJS Cannonball
On FB I noticed this specific posting about the Canonball XJS cars:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/606923029511151/permalink/715226648680788/
Apparently there are some Cannonball XJS limited editions created, something I was not aware off. So I need to learn a little more about that. The movie Cannonball run (not to be confused with the Gumball movie - although similar) was for me definately a trigger, see my blog:

ANWB Autokampioen Jaguar XJS test car
Perhaps a silly one but I like it. It's linked to this blog:
http://erwinxjs.blogspot.nl/2016/12/xjs-he-facebook-post-by-rens-biesma.html
Rens has posted a new FB update with other pictures about this car:

TOPCAT 1983. (foto's: Rens Biesma)
One of Rens followers responded he had also tested it for the Dutch KNAC and came up with this picture:

The Grand Tour: Jag Skiing - XJS
Just a few days ago I decided to go for the Amazon trial. The first month is free and then you can continue for a fixed fee or simply cancel it. Main reason was because of a small (Italian car) documentary I wanted to see. So I figured to take an Amazon account. Turned out the documentary was only available for the USA region (geographical licensing restriction - apparently this is based on your creditcard details). Bummer. But still this meant I now could watch the Grand Tour series. And earlier this week it had this Jaguar episode. As for the Grand Tour, its mostly the same as the old Top Gear episodes, meaning the same format (so not really refreshing). The filming of the specials are still of great quality with superb shots and sceneries. It was no different for the Jaguar special, very nicely done and actually quite spectucalar. I wanted to make some screenshots but apparently that's protected as when I pasted it I got a black screenshot. Never seen that before. So instead I just made a few pictures and some camera recordings. Just when I wanted to put something together I got notified they released some footage of it on YouTube. So here you go, enjoy:

New used Starfish rims and tyres
Last weekend I purchased a complete set of rims with very good tires. They were located in Germany not far across the border. I had spotted them already a while ago and decided to go for it. The guy in question had in fact 2 complete sets but 1 set was with good tyres. So I agreed with him a fair price. I nicely could combine this with a city trip to Düssseldorf and do a little shopping with the family, win win.
The reason for purchase was two fold. With a spare set I could easily get the one on the car reconditioned with little hassle. And now I have as well a complete set of good tyres. Last year my car passed the MOT but it did had a remark on the rear tyres, see blog:
http://erwinxjs.blogspot.nl/2017/03/mot-pass-apk-goedgekeurd.html
The remark was only about the profile being just sufficient. But knowing the overall state of them it is even more surprising there wasn't a comment about them being dried out and worn out, or should I say torn. I would expect this would be a MOT fail. Have look yourself:
Surprisingly the previous owner had only the front tyres replaced with new expensive Sprint Classic tyres.
As said, I collected them and the guy was a friendly Jaguar/Daimler nutter :-)
The tyres were indeed very good and the rims were pretty good too. As you can see on the tyres, there are still "hairs" on it with sufficient profile:
So now I need to find a company who can recondition and repaint them. But again, I'm still not in a hurry.
