Zwischengas - 50 jahre Jaguar XJ-S

 Zu viel Plastik, zu Barock, zu soft, zu wenig Sportlichkeit, zu eng, zu viel Verbrauch, zu kompliziert, zu weit von den aktuellen Bedürfnissen des Marktes, zu teuer in der Produktion. Statt Begeisterung hatte der Jaguar XJ-S es reichlich schwer bei seiner Präsentation am 10. September 1975 anlässlich seiner offiziellen Weltpremiere an der IAA in Frankfurt. Als er 1996 eingestellt wurde, war er der längstgebaute Jaguar und erfolgreichste Zweitürer der Firmengeschichte. Mehr dazu in den Kommentaren.

I worked as a technician at the company that restored that car for him, remember it very well. The car was totally stripped to a bare shell then fully restored but also had lots of updates and personal specifications, ie the twin headlamps. Oh yes it wasn't black to start with either
